Soldier Clothespin Doll

I thought a Soldier Clothespin doll would be appropriate in honor of Memorial Day.

I purchased this clothespin doll at a Long Island Senior Center craft fair in New York about 16 years ago. This tiny soldier adorns my Christmas tree every year.

Helmet: Black pompom.
Upper Torso: Painted in red with a white ribbon.
Belt: Red, white and blue ribbons.
Legs: Painted in blue with red and white ribbon for vertical striping.
Arms: Separate thin pieces of wood painted red with cuffs trimmed with red, white and blue ribbons.

Wishing you a safe Memorial Day!

I end today’s blog entry with a poem by Sir Walter Scott:

Soldier, rest! Thy warfare o’er,
Sleep the sleep that knows not breaking,
Dream of battled fields no more.
Days of danger, nights of waking. -Sir Walter Scott

I agree, what a perfect fellow and poem for to remember the day of heroes. 🙂
