HAPPY EASTER! In Your Easter Bonnet…Violet Clothespin Doll

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Here’s lovely Violet, fresh from an Easter egg hunt, all decked out in her Easter attire with basket and eggs in hand.

Violet was a joint project as she was made with the help of my friend and fellow blogger Hiromi (handmadelife1) as well as my cat, Girl Scout, who loves searching through my boxes and bags of craft odds and ends while I’m trying to work. 🙂

Hiromi crocheted Violet’s beautiful skirt, cape and hat using cotton thread.  For finishing touches, I added a pearl (recycled from a broken necklace) to the front of her cape, a purple rose (recycled from an old nightgown) to the side of the bonnet and a lavender bow (recycled from a baby’s t-shirt) to the back of the bonnet.

Violet’s Hair: recycled from an old doll.

Easter Basket: I had no idea what to do to make an Easter basket of such small proportions until Girl Scout started playing with a piece of pipe cleaner.  I remembered I had purchased some tiger print pipe cleaner for another project quite some time ago. I shaped the basket by wrapping and bending one full strip of pipe cleaner around my finger. I found the tiger print made a nice illusion of a woven basket.

Basket Grass: recycled “cellophane” grass.

Easter Eggs: beads recycled from a broken necklace.

Please don’t forget to check out Hiromi’s blog which I’ve included under “Other Links.”  You will not be disappointed.

Enjoy!

HAPPY EASTER!
